Ancient Wisdom for Modern Times: Qi Gong & Tai Chi for longevity

Qi Gong & Tai Chi for Longevity

In China, people get up by dawn and move. Either walking, stretching, Tai Chi or Qi Gong. Here in Shandong Province (eastern seaboard), swimming is also a popular hobby as we are so close to the ocean. I love Eastern China for its ocean (like San Diego). It has great seafood options, fresh produce and excellent wine that is at par with France and Napa Valley.

This is one of my morning warm-up Qi Gong routine and a short Tai Chi movement. Why this ancient exercise is so important to me? It is not sexy. No one is wearing sexy yoga pants and doing contortions.

However, It is one of the best exercise to maintain spine, joint, and connective tissue health. The slow movement lubricates connective tissues and joints and sends fluids to all the crevices between the bones. Don’t wait till you are too old to try this. Do this now when you have mobility and balance. Joint and spine health is key to longevity. Being able to move without stiffness or pain is key to aging gracefully.

If you are still doing a high-impact workout that put stress on your hip, knees, and joints; reconsider doing other low-impact workout and take up this ancient art of movement. You are never too young nor too old to do Qi Gong and Tai Chi. Option to wear sexy yoga pants if you like.

Traditional Chinese Medicine and acupuncture has been proven to work for over 2,500+ years.
